Corny Joke [21 Jan 2005|06:24pm]
[ mood | amused ]

I got this Joke-A-Day Calendar for Christmas, all the jokes are corny but this one was just stupid, I was like what the hell?

It was a dull Sunday afternoon in the jungle, so the Elephants challenged the Ants to a game of soccer. The might Elephants were ahead by ten to nothing when the Ant's star player got by several elephants and kicked the ball toward the Elephants's goal. Suddenly the Elephants's left fullback came lumbering toward him. The elephant stepped on the little ant, killing him instantly. The referee stopped the game. "What do you think you're doing? Do you call that sportsmanship, crushing another player?" The elephant replied apologetically, "Well, I didn't mean to kill him -- I was just trying to trip him up!"

Poetry 101 [16 Aug 2003|04:01pm]
Society... --Beauty August 16, 2003

This land is full of hypocrisy
Always hearing one thing...
The exact opposite of what you see
They say we live in a land of freedom
But are we really free
If we let that thing called society
Continue to control us?

We're constantly told
"There's someone out there for everyone,
And when you find them, take it and run."
But when you find that *someone*
Who doesn't seem to fit the equation
That society has placed for you
You get funny looks and glares
Constant snickering and stares
Harsh comments and noses in the air
Forcing you to run away from the *someone*
That was meant for you
All because society didn't approve

We're constantly told
"To be unique and stand out from the rest
Being you is what makes you the best!"
But when you're being you
You still don't fit in
Society tries to get a hold of you
So they can mold you
Manipulate and fold you
Only to say they sold you
And now you're one of "them"

We're constantly told
"You can be whatever your soul desires
Just reach for the stars and aim higher."
But when your reach for your star
The closer you think you are
The further back moves your star
All because...
There's always something holding you back
Whether it's the color of your skin
Or the matching of the chromosomes within
Society just doesn't want you to win

So if we are all like each other
Everyone's sister and brother
Why are we still seen as an outcast?
Why am I told I can choose
Who I want to spend my life with
But if society doesn't approve
The relationship must quit?
Why am I told to be who I am
Stand out and be different
But society forces it's qualities on me
Forcing me to inherit?
Why am I told I can be
What I want to be
But society picks me apart
And moves me back a space because
I'm not who or what they want at heart?

This land is full of hypocrisy
Always hearing one thing...
The exact opposite of what you see
They say we live in a land of freedom
But are we really free
If we let that thing called society
Continue to control us?

Since visualdialect said he wanted to see some more of my poetry and blew up my head :-) I thought I'd throw a little something something together. So yea, that was the end product.

Food For Thought [26 Jun 2003|12:25pm]
[ mood | giggly ]

"The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death. What's that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you're too young, you get a gold watch and you go to work. You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities. You become a little baby, you go back into the womb, spend your last nine months floating... and then you finish off as an orgasm." --Unknown

That made me laugh. LoL. ;-)

[ mood | gloomy ]

I used to find it hard to believe, and almost impossible to conceive that everything I do revolves around you. And knowing that, it's kinda crazy to me. Now if I had a dollar for every moment that I spent watching my days go by doing, doing, doing nothing. I'd probably never be penniless or hopeless...

Remember When...? [31 May 2002|03:19pm]
[ mood | amused ]

I absolutely LOVE this e-mail that I got. It brought a smile to my face. :-)

Sit back and think back...
...before the Internet or the MAC...
...before semi-automatics and crack...
...before SEGA or Super Nintendo...

Way back...
I'm talking about...
...hide and go seek at dusk.
...Red Light, Green Light.
...playing kickball and dodgeball until your porch light came on.
...Mother May I?
...Red Rover.
...hula hoops.
...running through the sprinklers.
...Happy Meals.
...watching Saturday Morning cartoons.
...Fat Albert.
...the Roadrunner.
...the Smurfs.
...picture pages.
...G-Force and He-Man.
...Wonder Woman and Superman underwear.
...catching lightening bugs in a jar.
...playing Dukes of Hazard.
...Christmas mornings.
...your first days of school.
...bedtime prayers and goodnight kisses.
...climbing trees.
...getting an ice cream off of the Ice Cream Truck.
...a million mosquito bites.
...sticky fingers.
...jumping down the steps.
...jumping on the bed.
...pillow fights.
...running until you were out of breath.
...laughing so hard your stomach hurt.
...being tired from playing.
...your first crush.
...rainy days at school meant playing "Heads Up, Seven Up" in the classroom.
...Kool-Aid was the drink of the summer.
...giving your friends ride on your handle-bars.
...wearing your new clothes and shoes on the first day of school.
...class field trips.
...when nearly everyone's mom was at home when the kids got there.
...when a quarter seemed like a fair allowance, and another quarter a miracle.
...when any parent could discipline any kid, feed him, or use him to carry groceries, and nobody, not even the kid, thought a thing of it.
...when your parents took you to McDonalds and you were so cool.
...when being sent to the principal's office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited a misbehaving student at home.
...we were in fear of our lives, but it wasn't because of drive by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc. Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! (And some of us are still afraid of them!)

I want to go back to the time when...
...decisions were made by going, "Eeny-meeny-miney-mo..."
...mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, "DO OVER!"
...Race Issue meant arguing about who ran the fastest.
...Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in Monopoly.
...catching the fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening.
...it wasn't odd to have tow of threebest friends.
...being old referred to anyone over 20.
...the worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was cooties.
...nobody was prettier than Mom.
...scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better.
...it was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the "big people" rides at the amusement park.
...getting a foot of snow was a dream come true.
...abilities were discovered because of a "double-dog-dare."
...spinning around, getting dizzy, and then falling down was the cause for giggles.
...the worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team.
...water balloons were the ultimate weapon.
...older siblings were the worst tormentor, but also the fiercest protectors.

If you can remember most of these, then you have LIVED! Pass this on to anyone who may need a break from their "grown up" life. There's nothing like the good old days! They were good then, and they're good now, when we think about them... Share some of these thoughts with a friend who can relate. Then share it with someone who missed out on them. I DOUBLE-DOG-DARE YA!

Powerful stuff... I love this poem! [27 Feb 2002|09:15pm]
[ mood | hopeful ]

Black is the color of dirty clothes, of grimy hands and feet. Black is the color of darkness, of tired beaten streets. Black is the color of the bruised eye when someone gets hurt. Black is the color of darkness. Black is the color of dirt. Black is what people are "labeled" when others want to keep them away. Black is the color of shadows cast. Black is the end of the day. Why did you make someone the world would hold back? Lord, why did you make me black?

God's Reply Why did I make you black? Why did I make you black? I made you in the color of coal from which beautiful diamonds are formed. I made you in the color of oil, the black gold, which keeps people warm. Your color is the same as the rich dark soil that grows the food you need. Your color is the same as the black stallion and panther, oh what majestic creatures indeed!

Why did you give me thick lips, a broad nose and kinky hair? Why did you create someone who receives the hated stare? Why is my bone structure so thick, my hips and cheeks so high? Why are my eyes brown, and not the color of the sky?

God's Reply You are the colors of dark clouds from the hurricanes I create in September. I made your lips so full and thick, so when you kiss... they will remember! Your hair is the texture of lamb's wool, such a beautiful creature is he, I am the shepherd who watches them, I will ALWAYS watch over thee! You are the color of the midnight sky, I put star glitter in your eyes. There's a beautiful smile hidden behind your pain. That's why your cheeks are so high! Your stature is strong, your bone structure thick to withstand the burden of time. The reflection you see in the mirror, that image that looks back, that is MINE!

Why do people think I'm useless? How come I feel so used? Why do people see my skin and think I should be abused? Lord, I just don't understand What is it about my skin? Why is it some people want to hate me and not know the person within? Lord, you know my own people mistreat me, and you know this just ain't right... They don't like my hair, they don't like my skin, they say I'm too dark, I'm too light! Lord, don't you think that it is time to make a change? Why don't you redo your creation and make everyone the same?

God's Reply All colors of the heavenly rainbow can be found throughout every nation. When all these colors are blended... you become my greatest creation! So get off you knees, look in the mirror and tell me what you see I didn't make you in the image of darkness... I made you in the image of ME!!!!

I'm loving my new colors in my journal. Doesn't have a depressing tone to it now. Well not to me anyway. Especially now that I've changed my default picture. It looks classy to me. :-D
